Digital Geoscientist - Norwich UK, Full-time

Role Profile

As a Digital Geoscientist, the individual will be responsible for providing technical support and data services for the software range developed by Geologix. This entails supporting customers use of well data visualisation and analysis software through technical support, presentations and training.

Primarily, the role requires diligent testing and documenting software releases; creating customised software templates to automate subsurface and drilling workflows; explaining new features to customers and remotely solving customer’s software and data related problems.    

The role may require you to visit client offices for training or support related tasks as well as be adaptable for ensuring the quality and reliability of the software through testing.

 

Responsibilities 

The responsibilities of a Digital Geoscientist would include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Project set up and monitoring of real-time well data, ensuring high levels of data connectivity and quality
  • Advising clients of monitored wells on sub-optimal data and drilling operations issues
  • Providing user workflow assistance and technical support to software user group, including out of hours
  • Create, test and deliver on-time customised and commissioned material for client base, including analysis and interpretation of drilling and subsurface data
  • Conducting software training courses at Geologix or client premises from basic one day courses to multi-day advanced courses.
  • Provide clear and accurate documented workflows for consumption by clients.
  • Provide as part of a team supporting files and documentation required for the software.
  • Constantly assess and analyse the software's ability to provide a solution.
  • Perform software testing for all applications and services developed by Geologix and provide fully analysed results.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with client base.
  • Conduct research projects into new features or workflows for inclusion into the company's product or service offering.

 

Hours and Environment

Normal office hours, typically Monday to Friday with rotational out of hours support cover. The job also may involve travel to client premises and to attend corporate exhibitions, with potential for international locations.

 

Skills and Attributes 

Required:

  • Educated to honours degree level in Engineering, Geology or relevant Earth Science.
  • A thorough understanding of key concepts in drilling and subsurface
  • At least 2 years wellsite experience in Geological or Drilling operations roles
  • Knowledge of wits0 and WITSML data standards preferable
  • A keen interest and aptitude in computing technology
  • Good communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good organisational and time-management skills
  • A positive attitude
  • Initiative and adaptability
  • A smart appearance and polite and professional manner
  • To enjoy helping customers and colleagues alike

 

Package

Competitive salary.  Upon completion of probationary period a pension contribution from company is included as is a discretionary year end bonus based on employee’s performance and the company's profitability.
